Our Story

Akal began with a simple question: “Why is it so hard to find good halal food in London?” As three Londoners passionate about food and even more passionate about making halal options accessible, we found ourselves constantly frustrated by the lack of reliable information.

We'd spend hours researching restaurants, calling to verify halal status, and often ending up disappointed. Despite London's incredible culinary diversity, finding verified halal options remained unnecessarily difficult. That's when we decided to create the solution we wished existed.

What started as a shared Google Doc of our favorite halal spots has evolved into Akal – a platform dedicated to making halal food discovery simple, reliable, and enjoyable for everyone in London.
